Weekend Getaway to IITA

October 22, 2021

entrance to IITA Ibadan

Full meaning of acronym: International Institute of Tropical Agriculture. IITA has to be one of the best places to live in Nigeria (I’m not kidding). Entering the compound felt like coming into fantasy land like Alice did when she fell through the rabbit hole. The air was so fresh and crisp because of hundreds of trees in the reserve.

What I cherished the most during my short stay was the peace and serenity that’s a luxury for Lagos residents. There were no generator sounds, no horns or honking, no traders shouting their wares and no fighting pedestrians on the roads.

Accommodation in IITA ranges from a single room to flatlets and all are very affordable. There are also many sports amenities available, there’s a swimming pool, basketball court, tennis court, football field, squash court, a golf course and a fitness centre. There are also organised forest walks and bike rides. A unisex salon and spa are also available for all your beauty needs.

Overall rating 10/10. I would visit this place anyway anytime. It’s a wonderful place to break from everyday hustle and bustle.

Until next time, from your top guide in fine living.

Love,

Nwaanyi Ije.

One of my favourite things about reading fiction i One of my favourite things about reading fiction is how I’m transported through times and places. From the forests of Novgorod Russia, hostels of the starving populace in other USSR states to the banquet halls of commissars. This book lets you see from the eyes of an aristocrat how life was before and after takeover of the communist party in Russia. 💯 recommend. Romance, poetry, thriller, history lessons etc. This book has it all!!!Full book review and bibliotherapy in bio#nwaanyiije #bookstagram #amortowles #agentlemaninmoscow #bookreview

I got sent this book by the author to review and h I got sent this book by the author to review and honestly, I didn’t know what to expect when I saw the book cover but my curiosity was piqued because what story could be told about four housebroken women? The plot delves into the raw and complex realities of four women: Itunu, Stephanie, Ekomobong, and Rose, each navigating their own struggles and aspirations in a world that demands conformity and perfection.King’s strength lies in her ability to craft characters that feel achingly real. One might perceive Itunu as ungrateful for having a husband who showers her with gifts and money, Ekomobong as selfish for wanting to have her cake and eat it too with Alex, Rose as a spineless doormat under Ike, or Stephanie as a wannabe social climber. However, fate is neither a wicked goddess nor a benevolent deity; it just is.Sometimes in life, we consider ourselves to be better than our neighbours in one way or another, but this book holds a mirror to our faces, showing that especially as women, we share more in common than we might think, education and pedigree notwithstanding.Beneath the public personas we present are our real selves, flaws and humanity exposed. The biggest takeaway from this book is that we should all have more compassion for ourselves and for others.#nwaanyiije #bookreview #bibliotherapy

Ah! brace yourself! Prepare to embark on a whirlwi Ah! brace yourself! Prepare to embark on a whirlwind journey of a heart gripping tale of love and woe, struggles with self esteem, survival and the abandonment of marginalized communities by their governments in “Here Comes the Sun.”“Here Comes the Sun” revolves around the dynamic of a family: Delores, the mother, along with her daughters Margot and Thandi, with Margot being the elder sibling. Their narrative not only exposes the harsh realities of poverty within the black Jamaican community but also delves into the profound effects of colorism and the exploitation of women within the tourist industry. Here Comes the Sun exposes the ugly underbelly of paradise with vivid clarity that is both heartbreaking and illuminating.#nwaanyiije #herecomesthesun #nicoledennisbenn
